After our production successfully celebrated its Leipzig premiere last Saturday, it comes Julia must die officially in cinemas from Thursday 27 July.

Julia must die was finally able to celebrate its cinema premiere at the Scheibenholz racecourse last weekend after a long delay due to the Corona pandemic. As part of the Leipzig Film Nights, the 90-minute tragicomedy from director Marco Gadge presented for the first time on the big screen in front of the team and cast.

Successful screenings at festivals and at the Leipzig premiere

The story of Lya, Kasper and Clara's chaotic application day at a drama school has already been screened internationally at several festivals. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Max Ophüls Preis Festival 2020 and won at the San Francisco Independent Film Festival 2021. Julia must die the Audience Award and at the Golden State Film Festival 2021 the award for Best Foreign Feature Film. So a premiere in the Saxon metropolis was now long overdue, as the film was shot entirely in Leipzig in summer 2019 and a large part of the team is from the region. We were all the more pleased about the numerous spectators who, alongside the actors Stephan Grossmann, Thilo Prothman, Michel Diercks, Holly Geddert, Anna-Lena Zühlke, Aliki Hirsch and many more, found a place at the open-air event at the horse racing track. Director Marco Gagde and producer Mike Brandin were also present and celebrated the release of the film together with the cast and production team. From next Thursday, 27 July 2021, Julia must die will also be shown in many cinemas nationwide.
